Tourtour is nicknamed "the village in the sky of Provence". Classed as one of the most beautiful villages of France, has views that dominate a large slice of Provence. After Tourtour we also visited the pretty village Ampus.

The 11th century Romanesque church was built at the foot of the seigniorial castle which was razed to the ground in 1590. The "Saracen" gate which housed a portcullis is one of the last vestiges of this period.
